Federal Bank has restarted issuing the much popular co-branded Scapia credit card this week after a long hiatus of nearly a year. In March 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had directed the Federal Bank to stop issuing new co-branded credit cards due to regulatory deficiencies and later fined the Bank Rs 35.60 lakh in February 2025. And now the Bank is accepting applications for its co-branded credit cards.
What’s changed for Scapia credit card?
The Bank is now accepting applications from existing Federal Bank savings accounts customers as well as Federal Bank credit card holders which wasn’t the case earlier. While the rejection rate is still high as per sources, the application process is pretty fast. The application process including KYC is completely online and takes minutes only and if approved, the virtual credit card is issued immediately. The physical card is delivered within 2-5 days. The application process is faster for customers who use Scapia app.
Scapia credit card is a co-branded credit card issued by Federal Bank in partnership with Scapia Technology Pvt Ltd. Scapia Technology Pvt Ltd is the company behind the inception of Scapia credit card and have also ventured into AI powered Visa application and train booking services through its customer facing platform. According to the reports, the private firm is aiming to raise around Rs 290-340 crore in 2025 to expand its offerings.

- Unlimited domestic lounge Access: The cardholders get unlimited lounge access at domestic airports upon spending Rs 10,000 or more each month.
- 2-4% Reward Rate: The card offers reward points in form of Scapia coins. You earn 10% Scapia coins on all spends and 20% on travel spends on Scapia app, excluding categories such as forex spends, fuel expenses, wallets, EMIs, rent, education and gift cards. Since the value of 5 Scapia coins is equal to Rs 1, Scapia card offers a typical reward rate of 2-4% depending on your spend category. There is no limit on earning Scapia coins or redemption.
- Fuel Surcharge Waiver: The cardholders get 1% surcharge waiver for transactions up to Rs 5,000 per month.

Earlier the card used to be issued only on VISA network but now the Bank also offers a virtual RuPay card variant which offers a 5% reward on all UPI transactions valued above Rs 500.
