Ladki Bahin Yojana: Maharashtra to release pending Instalment on March 7th

Maharashtra state government has announced that the pending February instalment to the women beneficiaries under “Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana” will be released on March 07, 2025. Aditi Tatkare, minister for women and child development of Maharashtra, confirmed to the press that the latest instalment of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana will be disbursed in the bank accounts of the women in the approved list by the evening of March 07, 2025, a day prior the Women’s day on March 08, 2025.

Since its launch last year in June 2024, the state government has released a total of six instalments. The first instalment was released in August 2024 and the sixth in December 2024. After the sixth instalment, the state government tightened the scrutiny in January and rejected over 5 lakh names from the beneficiary list. The 7th instalment is now being released to the revised list of approved beneficiaries on March 07.

According to the state government, a total of 1.23 crore applications have been received so far and of them, 1.06 crore applications have been approved to receive the benefit under Ladki Bahin Yojana.

How to check Ladki Bahin Yojana instalment list?

The beneficiaries will be informed of their instalment credit status via SMS on their registered mobile number. The applicants can also visit any of the nearby seva kendra, ward office or any sevika to check their status after March 7th. The amount will be credited via DBT to the bank account registered during the application process.

The approved list of beneficiaries can be checked through official website https://ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in/ or by visiting any of the Seva kendras.

How to check DBT payment status?

Additionally, the beneficiaries can also check the instalment payment status through ‘DBT Status Tracker” facility on the official PFMS website https://pfms.nic.in/SitePages/DBT_StatusTracker.aspx by entering the required details.

Ladki Bahin Yojana Overview

The Maharashtra government had launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ Yojana on June 28, 2024 to promote economic welfare and independence of women in the state. The women in the state of Maharashtra who meet the eligibility criteria receive a financial benefit of Rs 1500 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The state government is currently considering raising the benefit amount to Rs 2100 per month. The proposal is set to be discussed in the budget session.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant women must be a resident of the state of Maharashtra.
  • The women must be between the age of 21 to 65 years.
  • Women who are married, widowed, divorced, abandoned or destitute as well as only one unmarried woman in the family.
  • The annual income of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs 2.50 lakh.
  • The beneficiary should have her own bank account linked to Aadhaar card.

Rejection Criteria:

  • The application will be rejected due to the following reasons:
  • If the combined annual family income is more than Rs 2.5 lakh.
  • If the family members are income tax payers.
  • If the family members have a regular/permanent job in any government department or any board/local body under state or central government. However, employees working through external agencies, voluntary workers and contract employees with income less than Rs 2.50 lakh per annum are eligible.
  • If the family members are drawing pension after retirement.
  • If the applicant woman may be receiving benefits of Rs 1500 or more per month through any other government financial scheme.
  • If the family members are current or former MPs/MLAs.
  • If the family members are Chairman/Vice Chairman/Director/Member of a Board/Corporation/Undertaking of the state or central government.
  • If the family members have a four-wheeled vehicle excluding tractors.

How to Apply:

The eligible woman can either apply online through the official website or offline.

There is no application or registration fee. The eligible women can simply apply online or visit the nearest Seva Kendra as mentioned below with the required documents to fill the application.

How to apply offline:

The applicant can visit the nearest Anganwadi Sevika, Head Sevika, Setu Suvidha Kendra, Gram Sevika, Community Resource Person (CRP), ASHA Sevika, Ward Officer, City Mission Manager, Municipal Balwadi Sevika or Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra.

  • Click on ‘Applicant Login’ section and click on ‘Create Account’.
  • Fill in the required details such as name, mobile number, district/Taluka etc to register and proceed with the application process.

Required Documents:

  1. Aadhar card: The applicant’s Aadhaar name should be same as on the application.
  2. Proof of residence: If the domicile is not available, then birth certificate or school leaving certificate or the ration card issued before 15 years or Voter ID issued before 15 years can be submitted. If the woman was born in other state, then her husband’s residential certificate can be used.
  3. Annual Income certificate: Annual income should be less than Rs 2.50 lakh. If the applicant has a yellow or orange ration card then the income certificate is not required. If the applicant has a white ration card or do not have any ration card, annual income certificate is required. In case of newlyweds, if the woman’s name is not mentioned in the ration card, then the husband’s ration card can be submitted along with a marriage certificate.
  4. Bank account details: The applicant woman should have a bank account that is linked with Aadhar.
  5. A Guarantee letter and photo of the beneficiary woman.

The beneficiaries should visit the official website for scheme related details and enquire nearest ward office or seve kendra.
