When presenting the state budget 2025-26, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the allocation of Rs 5,000 crore towards the ‘Lado Lakshmi Yojana’. As part of BJP’s election promise, the Lado Lakshmi scheme is aimed to provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,100 to the women from BPL (Below Poverty Line) families to improve their socio-economic status. Objectively, the state government seeks to reduce poverty levels, promote economic independence and improve the overall quality of life of the underprivileged women in the state. However, the scheme will only benefit the women who meet the eligibility criteria as set out by the government. Details on that are below.
Eligibility Criteria:
Only women who meet the following eligibility criteria will be registered as beneficiary and provided the financial assistance.
- The applicant (woman) must be a permanent resident of state of Haryana.
- The women must be at least 18 years old.
- The woman must be from a BPL family or from a family with annual income less than Rs 1.80 lakh.
- No family member of the applying woman must have a government job or be an income tax payer.
- The applicant woman must not be receiving benefit from any other government scheme.
How will the women receive benefits?
The women will receive the monthly sum of Rs 2,100 directly in their bank accounts registered during the application process. The funds will be disbursed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system into the Aadhaar verified bank accounts of the beneficiary women.
When will the registrations begin?
The registrations for the Lado Lakshmi yojana are expected to start in the month of April 2025. The state government will announce the date and the launch of the website for online applications within upcoming weeks.
How to apply?
The applicants will have the option to apply either online through the official portal or offline by visiting a nearby local body office or Seva Kendra. The process to apply online will be stated in details once the official website is live.
The scheme comes under the purview of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment or Department of Women & Child Welfare, Haryana. Applicants may visit these departments’ sites to stat up to date. The department responsible for carrying out the scheme’s processes, will publish the list of beneficiaries after the application process is concluded.
For now, the applicants can also register on the Haryana government’s Antyodaya-Saral Portal which is used to provide government schemes and services in the state.
What documents are required?
Following documents are required during the registration for Lado Lakshmi yojana:
- Aadhaar card, mobile number and email ID
- Passport size photograph
- Permanent residence certificate such as domicile or ration card older than 15 years
- Below Poverty Line (BPL) family card if applicable
- Bank account statement
- Parivaar Pehchaan Patra
