Delhi Govt launches ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’ on Women’s day

Keeping its poll promise, the BJP-led Delhi government has approved the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’ today on the occasion of International Women’s day. The announcement came from a Cabinet meeting held today on March 08, 2025 led by Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta. The scheme is designed to grant Rs 2,500 per month to the underprivileged women in Delhi.

The state government has allocated Rs 5,100 crore for the implementation of this scheme for one year and committee has been formed which will be led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself. The committee also includes cabinet ministers Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra and Parvesh Verma.

An online portal will be launched for the scheme and the registrations will begin soon, the Minister informed. However, the exact date for the opening of registrations, as well as eligibility details and total number of expected beneficiaries was not made public in the announcement.

BJP National President JP Nadda, present on the launch, said “Today, I am happy, and I congratulate Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and others for allocating the budget to implement this scheme in Delhi”.

Under the scheme, the eligible women will be provided Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance directly to their bank accounts via DBT. The scheme is expected to benefit approximately 15-20 lakh women in Delhi between the age of 21 to 60 years with family income of Rs 3 lakh per annum. More details will be clear once the Government launches the online portal. The officials stated that the whole process will be done online to ensure transparency.

In addition to the Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance, the BJP is also providing Rs 21,000 to the pregnant women along with a nutrition kit, and LPG cylinders at Rs 500 to the economically weaker women.
