Registrations begin for PM Internship scheme 2025; 1.15 lakh internships on offer

The registrations for the phase 2025 of the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) has started today on March 05, 2025. The interested candidates can register for the internship scheme till March 12, 2025 through the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), government of India.

The first round of the application process was carried out in October 2024. According to the minister of state for corporate affairs, a total of 28,141 candidates have availed the internship opportunity so far through the scheme. There are 1.15+ lakh internship positions yet on offer.

When addressing the post-budget webinar on boosting job creation Prime Minister earlier today stated that “To provide new opportunities and practical skills to youth, we have launched the PM Internship Scheme. Under this scheme, we must ensure active participation of the maximum number of businesses at every scale.”

What is PM Internship scheme?

The Indian government launched the Prime Minister’s Internship scheme in October 2024 to provide internship opportunities to the Indian youth across top 500 companies in the country. The scheme aims to equip Indian youth with practical skills and workplace experience to increase their chances of employment and to address unemployment.

In March 2025 cycle, PM Internship scheme is offering 1.15 lakh internship opportunities across 25 sectors in 700+ districts across all states and union territories.

Oil, Gas & Energy sector has the most internships on offer with 28046 positions, followed by Banking and Financial Services with 18467 positions, Travel & Hospitality with 15022 positions, and Automotive sector with 11730 positions.

The government has allocated a budget of Rs 800 crore for this scheme’s implementation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: 21-24 years
  • Job status: The candidate should not be employed full time.
  • Education: The candidate should have completed class 10 or higher and should not be enrolled full time in any educational institution.
  • Family: No family member’s income should be more than Rs 8 lakh per annum and no family member should have a government job.

Benefits Offered

  • One-time grant: Upon joining, the candidate will receive a one-tine grant of Rs 6,000 to cover initial expenses.
  • Monthly Stipend: The interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for a duration of 12 months. The stipend includes Rs 4,500 from the government of India through DBT and Rs 500 from the company. The company can pay more than Rs 500 from their own expenses if they want but its not mandatory.
  • Insurance: The interns are covered under the PM Jeevan Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima yojana.

How to apply?

The interested candidates can apply online through the official website provided by the MCA, government of India. There is no offline process. The candidates should have their documents ready such as Aadhaar card and all educational certifications to register. There is no application or registration fees for PM Internship scheme. Steps to register:

  • Visit the official website https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/login/
  • Click on any of the “Youth Registration” or “Register Now” tabs on the homepage of the website to start the process.
  • Enter your mobile number and verify with OTP and then create your profile password.
  • Once profile is created, candidates can access their profiles through ‘Candidate profile’ section to fill the application.
  • Fill in the education and professional details as required in the next steps.
  • Browse the available internship positions and apply to the ones that align with your interests and qualifications.
  • Complete the application process and submit.
